International Snubbing Services, Inc. (ISS) was formed in 1982 as a support organization to its Australian affiliate, South East Australian Services Pty. Ltd. (Imperial Snubbing Services). Initially, ISS provided management, administrative, and personnel services to Imperial Snubbing. With growth and recognition of Imperial’s accomplishments, ISS expanded its services to also include the design, development, and fabrication of equipment and equipment and supply procurement and sales. In 1996, ISS expanded its geographical coverage and started offering its services to its affiliate in Trinidad (Imperial Snubbing Services – Trinidad). In 1998, ISS commenced on its largest project to date, the construction and marketing of a new design 420K Hydraulic Rig. Today, the rig is successfully operating and providing niche services to oil and gas clients.
Over the years, ISS’s ownership and personnel have utilized technology, innovation, and imagination to meet the changing needs of its clients and stay ahead of its competition. ISS used its experience and capabilities to reduce rig footprints to operate on the smallest of locations, modified rig components to increase capacities without substantially increasing their size, redesigned rig sub bases and skid beams to operate with hydraulic equipment, designed a hydraulic, continuous operating rotary with increased capacity and torque capabilities to be utilized in drilling operations, automated several of the systems on a hydraulic rig, designed a simple, lightweight top drive system to be used on hydraulic rigs, designed rig components that can be easily configured to different platform layouts, and have configured a derrick pipe racking system.
Through their efforts and innovative solutions, ISS and its affiliates have positioned themselves for growth in the worldwide oil and gas service and equipment market. The future holds many new challenges and opportunities. ISS is prepared to take on any and all challenges and exploit any opportunities that arise.
